With news coming out that Mike Huckabee is gearing up to run for the GOP nomination and may announce in early May, the certainty that he will never be the Party of Bush nominee raises an interesting question. Would Huckabee do what it takes to destroy the gay-friendly neocon Bush-Portman ticket next year?  Maybe, according to a veteran Reagan and Perot advisor.

(grabien.com) - Ed Rollins, the political strategist and national campaign director of Reagan/Bush '84, appeared [several months ago] on "Kimeade and Friends," where he made a startling report: His friend Mike Huckabee told him that if the Republican Party doesn't fight gay marriage "tooth and nail," he would run as an independent candidate in 2016, thus possibly ripping the Republican Party in half.
"If Mike Huckabee runs as an independent, it will create chaos in this party," Rollins said. "It's very significant."
Rollins served as the national campaign chairman for Huckabee's 2008 campaign.  Read more.
