JEB! Bush's New Boots Are Made for Mocking Donald Trump

(ABC News) -After Marco Rubio's apparent footwear faux pas, most candidates might have avoided anything to do with boots.

Not Jeb Bush.

The Republican presidential candidate, after his town hall at a Timberland headquarters here in Stratham, New Hampshire, decided to do a little shopping. When he emerged, he showed reporters his new pair of Timberland boots, size 12.

When asked if his boots had high heels, Bush demurred.

"I don't know what you're talking about," he said, smiling.

He did take an opportunity to distinguish himself from the front-running candidate.

“These boots will match up really well against the fine Italian shoes that Donald Trump wears with his Brioni suits and his $500 ties," he said, laughing.

(Tampa Bay Times) - JEB! Bush is in a unique position.

After strengthening his standing in the earliest voting states, he has a more credible path to the nomination than he has had for months.

At the same time, Bush is poised to inflict lasting damage on the establishment wing of the Republican Party and help deliver the nomination to Donald Trump. The former governor's allies already have spent $20 million on TV ads attacking onetime protege Marco Rubio, who sits in third place in most polls.

The fiercest battle within the Republican primary is the fight to emerge as the chief mainstream conservative alternative to Trump and Texas Sen. Ted Cruz.

New Hampshire is ground zero for the competition between Bush, Rubio, and Govs. Chris Christie of New Jersey and John Kasich of Ohio.

Bush, whose well-funded super PAC is spending millions on ads tearing down Rubio, Christie and Kasich, has the resources to survive a weak showing in New Hampshire, and his supporters doubt he would quit before the Feb. 20 primary in South Carolina.

He has built a campaign infrastructure in the Palmetto State and has the political network of South Carolina Sen. Lindsey Graham behind him. Plus, the Bush family has a strong track record in the South Carolina. George W. Bush is expected to campaign with his brother there. Read more.

JEB! Bush has once again demonstrated his "decisive" leadership qualities that are a genetic trait in the Royal Family.

(New York Times) - The question came from a self-proclaimed “Bush-o-phile,” and the answer offered a fascinating, if free-form, glimpse into Bush family dynamics.

Why, the voter asked, is Jeb Bush not using his father and brother — George Bush and George W. Bush, the 41st and 43rd presidents of the United States — more on the campaign trail, to help him rise in the polls? (“Your polls not being higher than they are,” the voter prodded, helpfully.)

First, Jeb Bush tried the he’s-his-own-man trope. “People are going to vote for me,” he said, noting that he’s a “62-year-old man that has some life experience.”

Next, the former Florida governor tried the but-he’s-also-a-proud-Bushie response. “I’m proud of them, I’m not running away from them, that is total nonsense,” he said. “I’m not running away from my brother or my dad, but I know for a fact that I’m going to have to win this because I’m running for president and people have to have confidence that I have the skills to lead.”

Then he grew slightly philosophical. “And so, I spend time talking about my family in a loving way,” he said. “But you can’t ignore them because that’s weird. That’s kind of a strange thing. But you can’t over-rely on them either. There’s a balance.”

The Bush Family "Enforcer" has emerged from her Kraken's Lair to do battle for the Crown Prince.

The Dowager Queen Babs, known in her family as "the enforcer," stars in a new video message for her son Jeb Bush's presidential campaign, becoming the first member of either of the family's presidential couples to so publicly speak out on his behalf. See it here.

Also, Friday, the campaign provided a copy of a hand-written letter by the former first lady. In the message, she explains that she initially didn't like her son's decision to run because "the sacrifice for his family was huge. I changed my mind as it became clear that he is needed. I admit to being prejudiced as I am his mother."

GOP Wars, Episode 2020, A New Hope!

For those nerdy denizens of corporate cubicle hell with nothing more exciting to do, the forth most popular betting pool gabble around the water cooler and in the break room these days, after the Super Bowl matchup, tonight's college football national championship, and whether Rey is Luke Skywalker's daughter, must be about the date JEB! Bush will "suspend" his doomed presidential campaign. For those pool organizers, limit your available dates to those after the South Carolina primary on February 20, and before the Florida primary on March 15.

If JEB! 2016 had a campaign song that correctly sums up the Crown's Prince emerging terminal strategy for his current Bush Restoration incarnation, it surely would be a title play on Leslie Gore's "golden" sixties' oldie, something like, "It My Party, and I'll Kill It If I Want To."  JEB! is going down fighting, and doing it the way only a duplicitous Bush would do. He is lashing out with his SuperPAC bankroll at every other establishment candidate, trying to destroy their chances of being the alternative to him, which will certainly help either Ted Cruz or Donald Trump.  It's conceited and nihilistic of course, but it's not without purpose. JEB! the 2016 loser has a plan for ultimate victory, even if it's a real long shot, and a draw to an inside political straight.

It involves hoping Trump can be stopped, and Cruz will win the nomination by default.  Why Cruz?

A Trump nomination and loss would be explained by the media as a failure of Donald Trump, and his openly racist and revanchist rhetoric, or as his Manchurian Candidacy for Hillary Clinton calculated by Trump himself to fail. A Cruz nomination would be spun as a victory for the tea party wing of the party against the establishment, and a resultant Cruz landslide loss in the general election would be spun as a predictable defeat for tea party reaction. Certainly something a Bush Crown Prince would want.

JEB! will be 67 years old in 2020, two year's younger than Hillary is this year, and he is looking at a Maoist "Long March" to power, if there is any road at all for him. Now that it's obvious JEB! and his family cannot buy him the nomination in this election cycle, and certainly not the presidency itself, why not give the tea party rabble what they want, and then kneecap them?  This JEB! may be able to do in the first instance, and most likely can do in the second.  Conspire to hand the nomination to Cruz then work secretly to ensure his defeat in November.  Hope Hillary runs into trouble over the next four years with the economy and terrorism, and then come back in 2020 and buy the nomination after the tea party clone voters his family created to serve their interests, but now no long need are demoralized and discredited.  It's the only option JEB! has at this point for any Bush neoconservative Restoration under his name during his lifetime.  It's either this, or abdicate as Bush Crown Prince in favor of his son, Prince Jorge P.

JEB! is not ready to abdicate. Just as you can bet another Disneyfied episode of Star Wars is coming to a multiplex near you in a year not too far away, you can bet that the Crown Prince of the Dark Side of the political Force is busy plotting how to turn this "loss" for him now into a loss for the American Republic later.
